qrcode_to_url - Scan QR Codes on Webpages

qrcode_to_url is a Chrome add-on that allows users to easily scan QR codes on webpages and convert them into URLs. This eliminates the need to scan the QR code with a mobile device and then transfer the URL to the computer. The add-on is completely local, without any backend servers, ensuring privacy protection.

To use qrcode_to_url, simply right-click on the QR code image on the webpage and select the "Scan" option provided by the add-on. In the image viewer, adjust the size and position of the QR code image for better recognition. It is recommended to enlarge the QR code and center it on the screen. Then, click the "Scan" button. A prompt will appear to share the current screen. Click on the thumbnail of the current screen and confirm. Once the screenshot is obtained, the recognition result will be displayed in a popup window.

This add-on simplifies the process of scanning QR codes on webpages and provides a convenient way to convert them into URLs. It is a useful tool for users who frequently encounter QR codes while browsing the web.

Note: qrcode_to_url is an open-source project hosted on GitHub. It relies on the zxing and browserify projects for development.

Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
